WHEN TO KEEP YOUR CHILD AT HOME

It is very important to keep all of our students and teachers healthy. If your child is sick, please keep them at home to help stop the spread of germs. Here are a few guidelines as to when you should keep your child home:

Fever: Temperature over 100 degrees. Student should be fever free for 24 hours WITHOUT any fever reducing medications.

Vomiting and/or Diarrhea: Students should remain home and be symptom free for 24 hours prior to returning to school.

Pink Eye: A child that wakes up with pink or red eyes, itchy, crusted or tearing may have a form of conjunctivitis. It is best to have the child seen by their Pediatrician prior to coming to school.

Sickness includes, but is not limited to

  • active vomiting

  • diarrhea

  • fever over 100F

  • conjunctivitis ("pink eye")

  • upper respiratory infections

  • or when your child is just "not him/herself" or may have symptoms that would interfere with learning, like persistent or frequent coughing

Allow your child to return to school only when fever-free for at least 24 hours (no longer having a fever without use of fever-reducing medicines).

A student who has been absent by reason of having or being suspected of having a communicable disease must present to the School Nurse written evidence of being free of communicable disease, in accordance with Policy No. 8451.

Please don't hesitate to call the Health Office if you have any questions or concerns, or need to share any changes or updates in your childs health files.
